2. National Rail Museum: It is a museum about the Indian railway system and development from its beginning. It was opened on 01st February 1977 and covers almost 40,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor land. Inside the museum, you can also enjoy a toy train ride. 3. National Gallery of Modern Art: (NGMA) National Gallery of Modern Art is the best art gallery in Delhi under the Ministry of Culture India. Established very close to India gate in Jaipur House on 29th March 1954 by the Government of India. It has two more branches in Mumbai and Bangalore.

It has more than 14000 pieces of art from artists like Thomas Daniell, Raja Ravi Verma, Abanindranath Tagore, Rabindranath Tagore, Gaganendranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Jamini Roy, Amrita Sher-Gill as well as foreign artists. Nehru Museum

4. Nehru Memorial Museum: Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was the first prime minister of India. He played a great role in the freedom of India and took India to the next level. Nehru was an architect of modern India and the champion of world peace. The building which has been converted into museums basically was a residence of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru after his death it was converted into a museum.

Gandhi Smriti

5. Gandhi Smriti: Gandhi Smriti is a place where the father of nation Mahatma Gandi was shot dead by Nathuram Godse on 30th January 1948. Mahatma Gandi lived here from 09th September 1947 to 30th January 1948. This place was acquired by the Indian government in 1971 and was converted into the national memorial for the father of the nation Mahatma Gandi. It was open to the public on 15th August 1973.

Place includes a living room of Mahatma Gandi and the ground where he was addressing the crowd when Naturam Godse killed him. The building and landscape have been preserved as they were at that time. You can also see here the journey of Mahatma Gandi in the form of photographs and books. A big statue of Mahatma Gandhi was established here with whom you can take the pictures.

  • What a great list! Every time I travel somewhere I always try to visit at least one museum! If I would have to choose only one in Delhi I would go to National Gallery of Modern Art! They always really interesting and I bet this one is amazing as well!

  • Delhi's National Museum and the National Gallery of Modern Art are house some fine examples of art. Recently, audio-guides have been introduced in the National Museum, but I have not had the opportunity to experience those. Another interesting museum is the Dolls Museum.
