How To Reach: Rishikesh is very well connected and not very far away from the Capital of India New Delhi, which makes it more popular. Here I will take you to Rishikesh from starting off my journey New Delhi. I and my three brothers decided to go for River Rafting and we choose May first week to travel. Rishikesh can be covered as a weekend trip from New Delhi and we did the same.

We booked our tickets by Uttarakhand roadways on the AC bus for Friday night from ISBT Kashmiri Gate which is an interstate Bus Terminal. You can take buses to Rishikesh for almost 24 hours from an ordinary Bus to Volvo which is super luxurious in public transports in India. Normal AC Bus will cost you around INR 400 for one way and Volvo is INR 800. We will advise you to book your tickets online in advance if you want to take Ac or Volvo from the UTC portal. We booked the 2330 Bus and started our journey with so much excitement.

The bus we took was full of the youngster who was all going for the same adventure. The bus was full of excitement and discussion about Rafting, Camping and all. After 2-3 hours journey, most of the buses stop at the restaurant and cafe for a break you can have snacks here and use the washroom so that you can have some sleep for the next few hours. We reached Rishikesh  0600 in the morning and as we get down from the Bus a cool and fresh breeze welcomed us for river rafting in Rishikesh.

Our Camp and Rafting was already booked with the White World Expedition situated in Rishikesh. So we moved to the office of the company and meet Mr. Bheem (MD) to discuss the day plan. As you get down from the Bus in Rishikesh so many people come to you and offer River Rafting and Camping for a very cheap price. Lots of people are there who organize Rafting and camping. You need to be very careful while choosing the right person for your trip. River Rafting also has a safety point of view so your guide has to be trained and very professional. We have heard some news about the accident while river rafting in Rishikesh.

I was fortunate to know about the White World Expedition. I came in touch with this company when in 2015 I went to Rishikesh with one of my company’s Client group and I was impressed with the services of the company and dedication of Bheem for work. So this time as well I choose the same company for River Rafting In Rishikesh.

Feel the power of water

One of the extreme and best whitewater rafting on the Ganga. We spend about 6 to 7 hours on the river navigating Trilling rapids with another smaller rapids making up the whole trip fun. Between the rush of the rapids are big long calm pools where we can play games, challenge ourselves with a rock jump and swim in the clear green waters of the Ganges. This stretch has about 18 rapids including small and bigger.

Some of the good rapids we run on this stretch are called Good morning (II), The Wall (IV), Butter Fly (II), Hugs and Kisses, Three blind mice (III+), Crossfire (III), Return to sender (II) Rollercoaster (III+), Tea Off (II) Golf Course (III+), Clubhouse (III). Jail no Bail (II), Return to sender Rapids are safe to raft though there are some big waves and hydraulics.

It takes about 50 minutes to one hour to drive to the starting point and then about 30/45 minutes for the preparation, inflating rafts and safety briefing. Once the safety briefing is done, we get on the rafts. It is 4-5 hours of fun on the river with some good splashes and big hits. We finish our rafting trip just before the Luxman Jhula Bridge.

Camps are located on a superb location surrounded by mountains and forests. Tents are so big that it can accommodate 06 people in one tent. Very neat and clean with a comfortable bed. It has all the amenities like a bonfire, DJ, Volleyball ground, Rock climbing, Bridge crossing, Water Fall and many more. The food is so delicious and hygienic. The staff in the camp is so polite and helpful. Check the top five treks in Uttarakhand.

Rishikesh looks so beautiful!! I would love to camp here, but white water rafting is probably not for me (I can’t swim!!!). However, I like the idea of the yoga side of things so I’m definitely going to look this up!

    1. Swimming is not mandatory for rafting they provide all safety equipment like life jacket, helmet and a kayakar with you all the time. Even I don’t know swimming.
