As summer knock our life in March in North India people start thinking about traveling to the mountains. Or any other places where they can beat the heat and can spend some quality time. North India is so blessed in terms of mountains and rivers. It gives you so many places to visit in states like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand gives you the option for river rafting in Rishikesh.
In this post, I will take you to Rishikesh. Rishikesh is a small town in Uttarakhand near to world-famous holy city Haridwar. Rishikesh is situated on the riverbank of Ganga which makes this city so charming and worth visiting. Rishikesh is so popular for its Ashrams and yoga classes. People from all over the world come to Rishikesh and stay here in the search of spirituality.
Rishikesh is not only about Ashram, yoga, and spirituality. A different face of the Rishikesh is so adventurous. Rishikesh offers you so many adventure activities like River Rafting in Rishikesh, Camping, Trekking, Cliff Jumping, Kayaking, Bungee Jumping, Zip-line, Rock climbing and many more. Among all the River Rafting and Camping is so popular. Check out the most popular adventure sports in Uttarakhand.
How To Reach: Rishikesh is very well connected and not very far away from the Capital of India New Delhi, which makes it more popular. Here I will take you to Rishikesh from starting off my journey New Delhi. I and my three brothers decided to go for River Rafting and we choose May first week to travel. Rishikesh can be covered as a weekend trip from New Delhi and we did the same.
We booked our tickets by Uttarakhand roadways on the AC bus for Friday night from ISBT Kashmiri Gate which is an interstate Bus Terminal. You can take buses to Rishikesh for almost 24 hours from an ordinary Bus to Volvo which is super luxurious in public transports in India. Normal AC Bus will cost you around INR 400 for one way and Volvo is INR 800. We will advise you to book your tickets online in advance if you want to take Ac or Volvo from the UTC portal. We booked the 2330 Bus and started our journey with so much excitement.
The bus we took was full of the youngster who was all going for the same adventure. The bus was full of excitement and discussion about Rafting, Camping and all. After 2-3 hours journey, most of the buses stop at the restaurant and cafe for a break you can have snacks here and use the washroom so that you can have some sleep for the next few hours. We reached Rishikesh 0600 in the morning and as we get down from the Bus a cool and fresh breeze welcomed us for river rafting in Rishikesh.
Our Camp and Rafting was already booked with the White World Expedition situated in Rishikesh. So we moved to the office of the company and meet Mr. Bheem (MD) to discuss the day plan. As you get down from the Bus in Rishikesh so many people come to you and offer River Rafting and Camping for a very cheap price. Lots of people are there who organize Rafting and camping. You need to be very careful while choosing the right person for your trip. River Rafting also has a safety point of view so your guide has to be trained and very professional. We have heard some news about the accident while river rafting in Rishikesh.
I was fortunate to know about the White World Expedition. I came in touch with this company when in 2015 I went to Rishikesh with one of my company’s Client group and I was impressed with the services of the company and dedication of Bheem for work. So this time as well I choose the same company for River Rafting In Rishikesh.
Why White World Expedition: This company is one of the best in Rishikesh for any kind of adventure sports and camping especially for river rafting in Rishikesh. People who are working with the company are very well trained and professional. Managing Director of the company and main Guide Bheem is well trained on the international level. Bheem has been participated in so many international River Rafting and Kayaking Championship and won. He is also a member of the Ganga Kayak Festival organization. I would like to summarize the best part of the journey with White World Expeditions in the following point:
Camp: The best part of the camp is its location. it is surrounded by mountains, forests and also has a small waterfall which gives a feel of natural beauty. while it is situated in the womb of nature but does not compromise with comfort. camps are like a good hotel room and have all the basic facilities.
Food: Food is also a satisfactory part of the package. food is tasty and hygienic and also has enough varieties. they also provide lunch during Rafting which comes from one of the best-known restaurants called Choti wala.
Safety: the most considering part is safety which is provided by White World Expeditions while river rafting in Rishikesh. all the equipment like a helmet, life jacket, and raft are excellent in quality and belong to known brands. the exceptional safety which is provided by them is the safety by Kayaker. one person is always with you with Kayak for any kind of emergency. which is provided by very few.
Expertise: Bheem, owner, and manager of White World Expeditions is champion of many Rafting Championships including internationals also. he provides the best possible safe platform to enjoy during rapid due to his experience.
Time Management: It was only two days trip but there was no moment when we feel a shortage of time due to time management of the White World Expeditions Team. all the arrangements like food, vehicle services, rafting time and other activities were according to schedule.
Videos and Photos: In the era of social networking clicking pictures and shoot videos is an important part of the journey. White World Expeditions also work as a photographer and provide an option for you to catch all memorable moments by GoPro which is cannot be taken by us.
in short, I must say that White World Expedition is the best option to hire when you go to visit Rishikesh.
River Rafting: River Rafting in Rishikesh is a sport that attracts most of the people to Rishikesh when it comes to water sport. River Ganga provides all the adventure and excitement from easy to difficult levels. There are three River Rafting options first is 16 Km easy level for the family with kids than 26 Km medium level than 36 Km for most adventurous people.
One of the extreme and best whitewater rafting on the Ganga. We spend about 6 to 7 hours on the river navigating Trilling rapids with another smaller rapids making up the whole trip fun. Between the rush of the rapids are big long calm pools where we can play games, challenge ourselves with a rock jump and swim in the clear green waters of the Ganges. This stretch has about 18 rapids including small and bigger.
Some of the good rapids we run on this stretch are called Good morning (II), The Wall (IV), Butter Fly (II), Hugs and Kisses, Three blind mice (III+), Crossfire (III), Return to sender (II) Rollercoaster (III+), Tea Off (II) Golf Course (III+), Clubhouse (III). Jail no Bail (II), Return to sender Rapids are safe to raft though there are some big waves and hydraulics.
It takes about 50 minutes to one hour to drive to the starting point and then about 30/45 minutes for the preparation, inflating rafts and safety briefing. Once the safety briefing is done, we get on the rafts. It is 4-5 hours of fun on the river with some good splashes and big hits. We finish our rafting trip just before the Luxman Jhula Bridge.
Camping: Camp is one of the best parts of the white world expedition. The location is approximately 15 km from Rishikesh by road than 15 minutes trek to the camp. Camps are located on a superb location surrounded by mountains and forests. Tents are so big that it can accommodate 06 people in one tent. Very neat and clean with a comfortable bed. It has all the amenities like a bonfire, DJ, Volleyball ground, Rock climbing, Bridge crossing, Water Fall and many more. The food is so delicious and hygienic. The staff in the camp is so polite and helpful. Check the top five treks in Uttarakhand.
Hope after reading this post you are all excited to go Rishikesh for all the adventure. So do not wait just go have a blast of fun and adventure.
The most interesting part of this post for me was the names of the rapids. Hugs and Kisses, Three blind mice, Return to sender, Jail no Bail (II), Return to sender 🙂 🙂 very creative. I’m sure there are good reasons for each name!
yes Punita all names have reason behind it. our local guy explained us about all.
Wild water rafting and India didn’t seem a match for me, but apparently I am wrong 😉 Looks like you had a great time!
Just come to Rishikesh for once i promise you rafting will leave amazed here…
I am actually looking for Christmas tickets and India is on my top 5 places to go. I would love to do wild water rafting but I will be scared in the same time. I love the camping site, I will check out the company and see if I find something during that period. Thanks for sharing, you post is handy for my ticket research.
No need to be scared its all safe..just go and have fun…
Wow! That turquoise water looks so inviting! I have never tried rafting but it sounds so much fun. I’m sure I would love it. This looks like a perfect spot to try it out.
Love camping and love rafting so this looks like a great trip!
Your post brought back memories of my first rafting trip in Rishikesh in 2007. What a wonderful time I had. The best part were the rapids and the guide asking me to take a dip in the icy cold water. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Doing it in Ganga adds to the experience!
Seemed to be a fun experience and the pics look amazing! Would love to go rafting some time!
This sounds like such an amazing adventure! I’ve never tried White Water Rafting before but it looks so fun!
your post and pictures brought back memories of Rishikesh from years back when I had been there. It still looks the same..quiet unspoiled. I am happy about that. definitely one of the best rafting destinations in India
Rishikesh looks so beautiful!! I would love to camp here, but white water rafting is probably not for me (I can’t swim!!!). However, I like the idea of the yoga side of things so I’m definitely going to look this up!
Swimming is not mandatory for rafting they provide all safety equipment like life jacket, helmet and a kayakar with you all the time. Even I don’t know swimming.
We tried kayaking last summer in Croatia. My partner, whose tried river rafting said rafting is a lot more tougher and exciting. Looks totally worth the try!
River rafting sounds so much fun, Danish! I will have to give it a try! Do you have any tips I should consider for river rafting?
Thanks for reading this. For river rafting main concern is safety so make sure your guide is well trained to tackle any kind of emergency in water.
